U.S. Southern Command Conducts Strike on Suspected Narco-Trafficking Vessel in Caribbean

U.S. Southern Command said a joint task force carried out a “lethal kinetic strike” Monday on a vessel allegedly operated by designated terrorist organizations along known narcotics trafficking routes in the Caribbean.

According to a statement posted by U.S. Southern Command, the operation was conducted Feb. 23 at the direction of SOUTHCOM commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan. The vessel was reportedly engaged in narcotics trafficking operations at the time of the strike.

The statement said three male “narco-terrorists” were killed during the action. No U.S. military personnel were harmed.

The operation was conducted by Joint Task Force Southern Spear as part of what was described as #OpSouthernSpear.
