A man in Antigua has pleaded guilty after police found a high-capacity gun magazine concealed inside a wireless party speaker.

Officers stopped Alex Joseph, 33, of Nutgrove, along Simon Boulevard last week after he collected a brown paper box from a shipping agency on 27 February.

A search of the package revealed a 30-round 9mm Pro Mag magazine hidden inside the speaker casing and wrapped in several layers of paper.

Joseph appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on Tuesday, where he entered a guilty plea. He was remanded in custody and is due back in court on Thursday for sentencing.
