I am writing about this incident that happened in the NICU that was very disturbing for my daughter and I. I went to visit my grandchild in the NiCU along with my daughter Thursday afternoon.

When I arrived everything was quite until a tall rasta man entered the ward assuming he was a parent and he had a strong smell of weed.

He then took chair and went on the ward then shortly after I heard, nurse nurse, so a nurse quickly ran to him and was assisting him with the baby while another nurse also ran to bedside to see what was happening.

While the nurses were assisting with the baby he kicked a trash bin and the bin hit the nurse foot, he then pushed a Machine that his baby was connected too, he angrily walked away then kicked 2 more trash bins cause another parent to jump out of fear while holding her baby. He then started shouting threats saying he’s going to shoot up the ward and kill the nurses.

One of the nurse told him to please go outside if he can’t calm down, he then gave more threats and stormed off the ward. A few minutes later he then return on the ward and was watching the nurses with a threatening look.

The nurses went into an office on the ward then I saw a lady walked out and my daughter told me that was the Manger. I asked her so if that is the manager how come she never came out of the office when those threats were made close to her office cause all of us heard it.

The so called manager took the father in her office and looked the door, he then came out still angry and knock one of the nurses table and the table touched the nurse on her side.

All the parents witnessed this ordeal. So now I asked myself ,are our loved ones and nurses safety taken serious at the hospital. What if that man did go for a gun we would be saying RIP. The nurses and parents were visible shaken after that so why did the Manger allowed him to come back on the ward without police being called?

The nurse had to be apologizing for his behavior not even the Manger came and said anything to any of us. I am very upset about what I witnessed and my daughter speaks so highly of these nurses in the NICU and she was also in fear for the nurses.

I hope management of hospital sees this and that manager needs to be questioned because that situation was serious and the fact that she was in the office and didn’t come out speaks volume. Some changes needs to be made at the hospital.
