    Police Seize Cannabis Valued at EC$78,000 During Joint Drug Interdiction Operation

    The police have seized a quantity of cannabis with an estimated street value of EC$78,000 during a joint drug interdiction operation conducted at the V. C. Bird International Airport Cargo Shed.

    At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, 5 March, officers attached to the Narcotics Department and Customs Enforcement Unit, carried out a coordinated operation at the LIAT Cargo Shed. During the exercise, two brown cardboard boxes were searched. The boxes contained thirteen (13) packages of cannabis, with a combined weight of approximately thirteen (13) pounds.

    No arrests have been made in connection with the seizure at this time; however, investigations into the matter are ongoing.

    The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda continues to work closely with Customs and other law enforcement partners to combat the importation and trafficking of illegal drugs into the country.
