    SLBMC Announces 2026 Semester II Staff Scholarship Recipients

    The Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre has announced the recipients of its 2026 Semester II Short Course Scholarships, recognizing a group of staff members selected for professional training and skills development across several fields.

    The hospital’s Learning and Development Unit said the scholarships form part of its ongoing effort to strengthen staff capacity and improve services delivered to patients and the wider community.

    Recipients include Davontee Joseph, who will pursue training in HVAC Systems and Understanding HVAC Systems, and Adahlia James, Carla Massicott and Raheem Williams, who will undertake studies in Office Management.

    Other awardees are Andy Lawrence, enrolled in Advanced Supervisory Management; Shaqeola Kennedy, Supervisory Management; and Oshima Thomas, Customer Service Management.

    Shawn Bailey will pursue Occupational Health and Safety Fundamentals, while Akilah Looby-Barton will undertake a CT and MRI Cross-Sectional Anatomy course.

    Nicole Antoine has been selected for Effective Management and Leadership training, while Shani Watts will pursue Project Management.

    Belinda Benjamin will undertake Medical Billing and Coding Certification, and Carol Scholar will study Managing Public Relations Communication.

    The medical centre said the initiative reflects its commitment to investing in staff development and expanding the skills and knowledge of its workforce.

    Officials noted that the continued training of employees contributes to strengthening the quality of care and service delivered to patients across Antigua and Barbuda.
