The Antigua Public Utilities Authority said Saturday that it remains focused on tackling persistent water challenges in Antigua and Barbuda through continued investment in production, infrastructure and service delivery.

In a statement marking World Water Day 2026, APUA said water scarcity continues to affect Antigua and Barbuda and many Small Island Developing States, but added that efforts are ongoing to strengthen the country’s water system for the future.

The utility said it has made “significant investments” to expand water production, upgrade infrastructure and improve service delivery as part of a broader push to secure a more reliable and sustainable supply.

APUA said those investments are aimed not only at addressing current needs, but also at building a future in which water scarcity is no longer a major challenge.

The authority also renewed its commitment to ensuring that communities across Antigua and Barbuda have access to water, describing the resource as essential and central to national development.
