Antigua and Barbuda secured third place at the inaugural OECS Super Regional Robotics Challenge 2026, held in St. Kitts, as teams from across the Caribbean competed under the theme Innovating for a Sustainable Caribbean Future.

Micah Matthew and Michael Harvey, coached by Tijah Myers, represented the country in its first appearance at the regional event, organised by the Eastern Caribbean Robotics and Innovation Association in partnership with the St. Kitts and Nevis Robotics Association.

The five-day competition brought together teams from eight territories and challenged participants to programme robots to collect sargassum and coastal debris, with additional tasks focused on recycling and navigation.

Antigua and Barbuda advanced to the semi-finals after a strong opening round but were defeated by St. Vincent and the Grenadines. They rebounded to claim third place with a win over St. Lucia.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines won the overall title, defeating St. Maarten in the final.

At the closing ceremony, regional robotics advocate Dr. Ricard O’Neill told participants the event marked the start of a growing movement, with plans already underway for a 2027 edition.
