As a voter in the All Saints West constituency, I want to share the compelling reasons why casting a ballot for Harold Lovell is not in our constituency’s best interest.

First, Lovell has earned a reputation as a perennial loser, having lost eight out of ten elections. This staggering statistic underscores a significant rejection from the very community he grew up in to represent. With an 80% disapproval rate, his history raises a critical question: If he failed to deliver for his own constituency in St. John’s City East, why should we expect better from him in All Saints West? He lacks an emotional connection to our people and our area.

At 70 years old, Lovell may lack the necessary energy and drive to lead our constituency effectively. Leadership demands vigor and enthusiasm—qualities that are essential for development, especially in our community.

Lovell is set to remain a member of the opposition, which is not a comforting thought. The United Progressive Party (UPP) is poised to lose the next general election badly. Do we want a representative who cannot deliver results and will constantly cite his position in the opposition as an excuse for inaction?

Moreover, according to his own supporters, Lovell is perceived as a quitter—a label that bears significant weight. He has contemplated leaving politics on three separate occasions—2014, 2018, and again in 2021—after suffering a narrow defeat by just six votes. If he struggles in office, what assurance do we have that he won’t simply walk away and leave our community in the lurch?

During his time in power, Lovell had the opportunity to make a change but ultimately failed the people of All Saints West. He held three key ministerial positions—Tourism, Civil Aviation, and Finance—but instead of empowering our residents, he failed to address the neglect of Chandlah Codrington.

Additionally, Lovell’s leadership led Antigua and Barbuda into an IMF program—an indication of mismanagement during his tenure. This is not the kind of legacy we want for our future.

In conclusion, voting for Harold Lovell is a step back for All Saints West. We need a leader who is committed, connected, and ready to take charge—not someone with a record of failure and inconsistency. As we approach the election, let us stand united in our quest for a brighter future.
