Opposition MP for St. Mary’s South Kelvin “Shugy” Simon is calling for an independent inspection of the housing development in Bolans, describing the project as “a complete disaster” and raising concerns about drainage, safety and overall planning.
In a statement, Simon said warning signs were already visible even before families received their keys to the homes.
“The housing development in Bolans is a complete disaster,” Simon said. “Before families even receive their keys, the signs are already there—poor planning, inadequate drainage, and conditions that raise serious concerns about safety and livability.”
Simon said families should not be handed homes burdened by infrastructure problems from the outset.
“Families deserve homes built with care, foresight, and proper infrastructure—not problems waiting to happen,” he said.
The MP also used the statement to press for greater accountability from the government, saying electoral victory should not excuse poor execution of public projects.
“A mandate is not a blank cheque. It is a responsibility,” Simon said.
He called for an immediate independent inspection of the development, a full review of the drainage and infrastructure systems, and transparent communication with the public.
“The people deserve better. Bolans deserves better,” Simon said.
