St. Peter is leading the country in voter ID card replacement with 93 per cent completion, as more than 32,000 applications have been processed nationwide ahead of the April 30 general election.

Figures from the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) show a total of 32,271 applications processed, including 18,320 during April alone, reflecting a sustained push to update voter credentials across all 17 constituencies.

Barbuda follows with 80 per cent completion, while St. Philip North and St. Philip South stand at 76 per cent and 74 per cent respectively. All Saints West has reached 71 per cent, placing it among the stronger-performing constituencies.

By contrast, several St. John’s constituencies and surrounding rural areas remain below 67 per cent, indicating slower uptake in more densely populated districts.

The latest weekly report points to a sharp increase in activity following the election announcement. On April 27 alone, 289 replacement applications were recorded, compared with 73 the previous day, bringing the weekly total so far to 362.

St. John’s Rural East recorded the highest number of applications during the period with 36, followed by St. George with 30 and St. Peter with 26. All Saints West also saw steady movement with 24 applications.

ABEC data also shows 42 new voter registrations over the two-day period, suggesting continued interest from first-time voters and those updating their status ahead of polling day.

With just days remaining before the vote, the figures indicate strong overall progress but uneven completion rates, raising the likelihood of continued demand for last-minute replacements in lower-performing constituencies.
