The Government House Museum officially opened the Entangled Islands: Ireland & the Caribbean exhibition on Monday, April 27, 2026, marking a significant cultural collaboration between Ireland and Antigua and Barbuda.

The opening ceremony brought together government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, cultural practitioners, and invited guests for an evening that highlighted the shared histories and connections between the two regions. His Excellency Governor General Sir Rodney Williams led proceedings, alongside remarks from national and international representatives.

The programme featured a blend of musical and spoken word performances, including renditions of both national anthems and cultural pieces that reflected the exhibition’s theme of historical and cultural interconnection. An overview of the exhibition was delivered by curator Dr. Catherine Healy, offering insight into the research and narratives that underpin the showcase.

The event concluded with an official ribbon cutting and a reception, where guests were invited to view the exhibition.

Entangled Islands: Ireland & the Caribbean is now open to the public at the Government House Museum and forms part of ongoing efforts to deepen cultural understanding and engagement through shared heritage.
