Voting in Antigua and Barbuda’s general election is off to a robust start, with steady early turnout reported across several constituencies as electors lined up from as early as dawn to cast their ballots.

Polling stations opened at 6 a.m. nationwide, and initial reports indicate a smooth and orderly process, with election officials, security personnel and party agents working efficiently to manage the flow of voters.

In many areas, an early morning rush saw long lines forming outside polling stations, as voters moved quickly to exercise their franchise before the heat of the day.

Observers noted that the process has been proceeding without major incident, with voters complying with identification requirements and electoral rules.

Scenes across polling divisions showed citizens proudly displaying their inked fingers after voting — a visible sign of participation in the democratic process.

The Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission has indicated that preparations carried out in the lead-up to the election have contributed to the smooth start, with trained staff and systems in place to facilitate efficient voting.

Security personnel are present at polling stations across the country to maintain order, while election officials continue to guide voters through the process.

Authorities are encouraging electors to continue turning out throughout the day, noting that polls remain open until 6 p.m.

Today’s vote will determine the composition of the next government, with counting expected to begin after polls close and continue into the night and early morning hours.
