Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) candidate Kendra Beazer has expressed disappointment following his defeat in Barbuda, but said he remains committed to political involvement and service to the island.

Speaking in an interview after the results, Beazer acknowledged the outcome while defending the campaign he ran.

“I feel a bit disappointed with the results here in Barbuda, but at the same time, I feel content in the fact that I ran a decent campaign and I raised the level of standard here in Barbuda,” he said.

Beazer was defeated by veteran Barbuda People’s Movement (BPM) politician Trevor Walker, who retained the seat in the constituency.

Despite the loss, Beazer expressed gratitude to supporters and those who assisted his campaign during the short election period.

“Thank you to the persons that voted for me… thank you to the persons that stood by me… just an overall sense of gratitude is sent out to them,” he said.

He maintained that the issues raised during his campaign remain important, describing his platform as one focused on the concerns of Barbudans.

“I ran on a truthful platform… speaking on the issues that have been keeping them back here in Barbuda,” he said.

Looking ahead, Beazer signalled that he intends to remain active in politics, regardless of whether he contests future elections.

“Politics has always been a love of mine… I will still be around where politics is concerned in Barbuda… the future for me is very much involved in politics,” he said.

He also indicated a willingness to serve in other capacities if given the opportunity.

“Given the opportunity to serve in any capacity, I would gladly welcome,” he said.

Beazer further noted that he had been following results in Antigua, where the ABLP secured a decisive national victory, saying he was impressed by the party’s mobilization and campaign strategy.
