The countdown to the 2026 Caribbean Premier League Draft is officially on, and the league’s next generation of stars has already been identified.

All six CPL franchises have confirmed their mandatory pre-draft retentions, each securing a single Breakout Player who will spearhead their future ambitions.

With the CPL’s player acquisition rules for 2026 permitting each team to retain just one player before the draft, exclusively from the Breakout Player category, the six emerging cricketers selected represent a powerful statement of intent from the franchises.

These young talents have earned their spots through impressive performances and rapidly growing reputations across regional cricket.

The CPL’s commitment to nurturing homegrown talent goes beyond the retention list. Each franchise will ultimately name three Breakout Players in their final 2026 squad, ensuring a steady pipeline of young Caribbean cricketers on the region’s biggest stage.

Furthermore, every team must field at least one Breakout Player in each match throughout the season, guaranteeing these rising stars valuable game time against elite competition.

With the single pre-draft retention now locked in for all six teams, the focus shifts to the upcoming CPL Draft, where the remaining squad positions will be filled.

League officials are already billing it as one of the most competitive and exciting player selections in CPL history.

The draft order and date are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

    Barbados Royals: Ramon Simmonds,

    Guyana Amazon Warriors: Quentin Sampson,

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots: Navin Bidaisee
