Antigua-based driver Nicolas Geleyns began his 2025 FIA Euro RX3 Championship campaign with a third-place finish at the opening round in Riga, Latvia.

Driving for Volland Racing in an Audi A1, Geleyns recovered from a difficult start to the weekend after placing 11th in the opening qualifying session before recording three consecutive top-three finishes in later rounds.

Geleyns later secured third in the intermediate standings to earn a front-row start in the semi-final alongside championship rival Julien Meunier.

The semi-final proved dramatic after contact with Meunier sent Geleyns into the wall during the opening lap. The race was stopped with a red flag, allowing the Volland Racing team to repair the damaged car in time for the restart.

Despite the damage, Geleyns advanced to the final and held on for third place behind Meunier and Lithuania’s Gurklys.

“Even though I know I could have done better, I’m obviously very satisfied to leave the opening weekend of the season with a podium finish,” Geleyns said.

Geleyns now sits third in the overall standings, 12 points behind championship leader Meunier, ahead of the next round in Hungary.
