A man who was critically injured during an alleged incident at a political motorcade has died after days in intensive care at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre.

The 33-year-old, who lived in Newfield, had reportedly remained on life support since being admitted to hospital on April 26. Information circulating about the incident suggests he may have fallen from a moving truck taking part in an Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party motorcade.

Sources familiar with the matter said the man was allegedly discovered unconscious shortly after the incident, with severe injuries reported at the scene.

Hospital personnel reportedly checked on the patient shortly after 4 a.m. on the day he died and later found him without signs of life during a subsequent examination. Medical staff are said to have attempted emergency resuscitation measures, but those efforts were unsuccessful.

Following his death, the Coroner was notified and authorized the removal of the body. Relatives later requested that the remains be transferred to a local funeral establishment.

Officials have not publicly disclosed a confirmed cause of death as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue.
