Police are investigating an altercation between two employees at a restaurant in Sutherlands that reportedly escalated into violence, leaving both workers nursing injuries.

The incident reportedly occurred around 4 p.m. on Thursday at a food business near the Clarevue Psychiatric Hospital, prompting a police response after authorities received a report from the area.

According to reports, officers arrived and found a 35-year-old man from Sutherlands with an injury to his right hand. An 18-year-old woman of Hodges Bay also reportedly suffered minor injuries to her back, chest and right forearm and complained of pain to her neck.

Investigators were told that the confrontation began as an argument between the two co-workers while they were at the restaurant.

Sources said the man alleged he was stabbed in the hand during the dispute.

The woman, however, reportedly gave police a different version of events. She claimed the male co-worker had repeatedly been bothering her before the incident and alleged that he struck her in the head with a pot before using an electrical power strip to beat her.

Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
