The National Youth Parliament Association of Antigua and Barbuda (NYPAAB) has congratulated newly appointed Opposition Senator Jonathan Wehner following his swearing-in at Government House on Sunday.

In a statement posted on social media, the organization said Wehner’s years of involvement with the association demonstrated his “fire and passion” for ensuring that voices are heard and work gets done.

The association said it believes Wehner will carry those qualities into the Senate and expressed confidence in his ability to make meaningful contributions as a legislator.

“We look forward to seeing the inroads you make in the Senate,” the statement said.

NYPAAB also encouraged the young senator to remain “steadfast and humble” as he begins his new role, while assuring him of the organization’s continued support.

Wehner, 24, was among the Opposition senators appointed following the 2026 general election and is one of the youngest members of the Upper House. He previously participated in youth parliamentary debates and leadership activities through the National Youth Parliament Association.
