Prime Minister Gaston Browne has advised Governor General Sir Rodney Williams to appoint Tiffany Anthea Lauren Strann-Peters to the Senate, while Senator Joel Anderson Rayne has been elevated to the post of Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Corporate Governance and Public Private Partnerships.

The appointments take effect from 15 May 2026, according to an official letter issued by the Office of the Prime Minister on 13 May.

Rayne’s promotion comes just one week after he was sworn in as a Senator, marking a swift advancement within the government ranks.

The letter, signed by Browne, advised the Governor General to issue instruments of appointment for Strann-Peters to join the Upper House in accordance with Section 28 of the Constitution, while Rayne’s appointment as Parliamentary Secretary was made under Section 75.

A swearing-in ceremony for both officials is scheduled to take place at Government House at 1 p.m. on Thursday.
