Government officials say preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) remain on track, with strong international interest and support continuing to build ahead of the summit.

Cabinet this week received an update from Antigua and Barbuda’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who reported progress across key areas including security, transportation, accommodation, protocol, logistics and event management.

Officials said several countries have already secured accommodation while others are finalizing travel arrangements. Antigua and Barbuda is expected to host a large number of Commonwealth leaders and senior delegates, along with representatives from international organizations and development partners.

Cabinet was also advised that international partners have pledged assistance in areas such as security, cybersecurity, transportation, accreditation systems, equipment and technical support.

Preparations are continuing to accommodate the expected influx of visitors, with discussions underway with airlines regarding additional flights and measures to ensure adequate transportation, communications and emergency services.

Public participation remains strong, with more than 800 people expressing interest in volunteering for the event and over 130 Delegation Liaison Officers identified to assist visiting delegations.
