A 54-year-old pastor from Cedar Grove is assisting police with investigations after nearly 60 pounds of suspected cannabis was seized at V.C. Bird International Airport on Saturday.

Dean Robert Gould arrived on American Airlines Flight AA2579 on 13 June when officers attached to the police K9 unit reportedly identified two duffle bags belonging to him for further inspection.

Police said a search uncovered 60 packages containing a green vegetable substance believed to be cannabis. The packages were allegedly concealed beneath clothing and footwear inside the luggage.

The substance weighed approximately 59.5 pounds and has an estimated street value of EC$357,000.

Investigators also found packages bearing the name Jahmai Gould and a Bronx, New York address. Authorities said they are examining the significance of that discovery as part of ongoing inquiries.

Gould, a United States citizen born in Antigua and Barbuda, was taken into custody for questioning. He is expected to be charged on Monday.

    Police investigations continue.
