Prime Minister Gaston Browne has met with Romania’s Ambassador, Theodora Magdalena Mircea, to discuss expanding cooperation between Antigua and Barbuda and the Eastern European country.

The bilateral meeting took place on the sidelines of the CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting in St. Lucia, where regional leaders are addressing a range of issues.

Discussions focused on strengthening ties in trade, education and human resource development. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations.

Ambassador Mircea proposed organising a Romanian business mission to Antigua and Barbuda to foster direct links between companies and explore investment opportunities. The initiative would build on a regional business mission to the Caribbean conducted last year.

She also highlighted opportunities for Antiguans and Barbudans to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies in English, along with professional training programmes in Romania.

The meeting forms part of Antigua and Barbuda’s wider efforts to strengthen international partnerships and create new opportunities for trade, investment and education.
