Eastern Caribbean Amalgamated Bank (ECAB) launched the _ECAB Game Changers Scholarship_ on Monday 20th, July 2026, with the goal of supporting promising athletes as they pursue academic and sporting excellence abroad.
The launch, held at ECAB’s Redcliffe Street location, welcomed government officials and members of the sporting community. The scholarship grants a single payment of EC $25,000 to assist individuals who have received partial scholarships to study abroad between the ages of 14 and 21 who excel in swimming, track and field, or football. One recipient will be selected annually.
ECAB’s Chief Executive Officer, Michael Spencer, stated that the scholarship is a symbol of the Bank’s commitment to youth development and goes beyond financial assistance. “It is about rewarding perseverance, encouraging leadership, and supporting individuals who will proudly represent their communities and their country on the regional and international stage.”
The Honourable Minister of Sports and Creative Industries, Dwayne George, also commended the Bank for its commitment to community development: “You have consistently proven to be a cut above the rest. Your support in education, community development, and culture has not gone unnoticed. Again, we applaud your continued efforts as good corporate citizens.”
Sports Commissioner Dr. Colin Greene highlighted the importance of the initiative, emphasizing its role in helping athletes build sustainable careers beyond sports. He said, “Education is every student’s greatest advantage. Talent gets you noticed, but education gets you opportunities.”
