The APUA Water Business Unit advises customers primarily served by the Grays Hill Reservoir that recent challenges with replenishing the storage facility have contributed to low water pressure and interruptions in several communities.

The Grays Hill Reservoir is supplied from both the Ffryes and Barnacle Point Reverse Osmosis Plants. As both plants also serve other communities, a combination of water from these sources is needed to adequately replenish the reservoir and meet the demand within the Grays Hill service area.

During monitoring conducted overnight, a leak was identified along the supply route from the Ffryes Reverse Osmosis Plant. This affected the volume of water reaching the Grays Hill Reservoir and contributed to the reduced storage levels.

The affected areas include St. John’s City and surrounding communities, Michael’s Village, Camacho Avenue, Lower Ottos, Nut Grove, Cooks, Grays Farm to Five Islands, and Denfields. Our maintenance team will be carrying out repairs during the course of today. Once the repairs are completed, efforts will resume to increase the volume of water reaching the Grays Hill Reservoir and gradually restore service to the affected communities.

As the broken main is located along the southern supply route, customers from Ffryes Junction to Big Creek, including Orange Valley, Jennings and Bolans, will also experience a temporary disruption to their water supply while repairs are being carried out.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and thank our customers for their patience and understanding as the team works to address this issue.
