Antigua and Barbuda will host a National Cybersecurity and Fraud Prevention Forum on Thursday as the country continues efforts to strengthen awareness of online safety and combat cybercrime.

The hybrid event will take place from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the John E. St. Luce Finance and Conference Centre on Factory Road, St. John’s, with participants also able to join virtually.

The forum follows the recent passage of the Electronic Crimes (Amendment) Bill, 2026 , legislation aimed at strengthening the country’s response to cybercrime and enhancing protections in the digital space.

Senator Angelica O’Donoghue, who supported the bill during its debate in the Senate, said public education is essential to ensuring the legislation achieves its intended purpose.

“Passing laws is only part of the solution. Public awareness is just as important,” she said.

O’Donoghue encouraged parents, students, business owners and all internet users to participate in the forum, describing it as an opportunity to learn how to recognize scams, prevent fraud and stay safe online.

She also commended Antigua and Barbuda for modernizing its cybercrime legislation to better address the challenges of an increasingly digital world.

The 85-minute forum will feature presentations on understanding cyber threats, fraud prevention and cybersecurity best practices, response and legal protections, and collaboration on future cybersecurity challenges. A question-and-answer session will conclude the event.

The forum is intended to provide practical guidance to help individuals and businesses better protect themselves from cyber threats and financial fraud. Registration is available for in-person attendees, while the event will also be streamed online.
