The University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus and the UWI Alumni Association have congratulated 2025 graduate Zaine Frederick on being crowned Queen of Carnival 2026.
Frederick, representing Furniture Gallery, claimed the crown during Tuesday night’s pageant at the Antigua Recreation Grounds. The show was held under the theme “Rhythm of a Queen: The Beat of Her Journey.”
In addition to the overall title, Frederick received the prizes for Best Performing Talent, Best Interview and True to Theme.
“From the lecture halls of The UWI FIC to the Carnival stage at ARG, Zaine has shown the grace, confidence and excellence that our campus is proud to celebrate,” the university said in a social media post.
“This is a shining moment not just for her, but for our entire UWI family and the wider Antigua and Barbuda community,” it added.
Christine Powell, representing ACB Caribbean, placed first runner-up and won Best Costume and Best Swimwear. Aaliyah Taylor of Cool & Smooth was second runner-up and received the Best Evening Wear prize.
