Antigua Carnival is receiving increased international attention after Forbes featured the festival’s authenticity, local music, culture and visitor experience.

Festivals Commission Chairperson Ambassador Elizabeth Makhoul said the recognition introduces Antigua Carnival to travellers who may not have considered the country a Carnival destination.

The exposure comes as preparations begin for “Legendary 70,” the festival’s 70th anniversary, scheduled for July 20 to August 3, 2027.

Makhoul said the Commission plans to strengthen international marketing and partnerships with airlines, hotels and tourism stakeholders while preserving the festival’s Antiguan identity.

The Commission is also reviewing the Carnival calendar following Prime Minister Gaston Browne’s suggestion that some major events may need to be rearranged. No final decisions have been made.
