_OPERATION RESTORE CONFIDENCE CONTINUES TO YIELD RESULTS_

The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda ongoing crime-fighting initiative, “Operation Restore Confidence”, continues to yield positive results with several arrests and seizures made during operations conducted across the country this week.
On Thursday, 20 August, police executed several search warrants at Potters Village. During a search at Magic City Enterprise, officers seized several rounds of ammunition, a quantity of plant material suspected to be cannabis, along with pills suspected to be ecstasy, a ski mask, and a quantity of Eastern Caribbean currency.
Three persons were arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of ammunition and controlled substances.
Meanwhile, 35-year-old Lester Dyer, 24-year-old Gaitre Jairaj, and 28-year-old Isaiah Nicholas, were charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. All three were found with a Taurus G3C 9mm pistol and eleven rounds of ammunition on Wednesday, 19 August, during a stop-and-search operation on Nut Grove Main Road.
Additionally, 49-year-old Omarie Johnson of Liberta was charged in connection with the possession of 24.2 pounds of cannabis and the cultivation and possession of cannabis plants; while 49-year-old Peggy Warner of Jennings New Extension was charged with several cannabis-related offences.
The Police also conducted stop-and-search exercises and vehicular checkpoints in Cashew Hill, Friars Hill Road, Bendals Road, All Saints Road, American Road, Swetes, Liberta, and Buckleys.
Approximately 60 vehicles were stopped and searched during Thursday’s operation, several excessive tints were removed, and two unlicensed vehicles were seized.
The Police Administration said Operation Restore Confidence will continue across Antigua and Barbuda as part of its sustained efforts to remove illegal firearms and drugs from the streets, disrupt criminal activity, enforce the nation’s laws, and strengthen public safety and confidence.
The public is encouraged to continue cooperating with the police and to report suspicious or criminal activity to CID at 462-3913/3914 or Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).
