The death of 32-year-old Claudius Richards has prompted calls for a review of safety arrangements at Jolly Harbour Beach.

Richards, a Dominican national living in Bolans, was pulled from the water by two visitors after he was seen floating face down.

Reports suggest fencing prevented ambulances from reaching his location, forcing responders to use a golf cart to take him to an accessible gate. CPR was administered, but Richards later died.

Concerns have also been raised about the reported absence of lifeguards, though the claim has not been independently confirmed.

Authorities are being urged to assess vehicle access, lifeguard coverage and emergency procedures along the beach. The public has also been asked not to share footage of attempts to resuscitate Richards.
