The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a tropical wave expected to move off the west coast of Africa by Wednesday, with some potential for development later this week.

In its latest Tropical Weather Outlook on Monday, the NHC said any development should occur slowly as the system moves near the Cabo Verde Islands.

The NHC currently gives the disturbance a near-zero chance of formation during the next 48 hours and a 20% chance over the next seven days.

An earlier outlook shown in the screenshot placed the seven-day development chance at 30%, indicating the probability has since been lowered.

The system remains far to the east of the Caribbean, and the NHC has not indicated any immediate threat to Antigua and Barbuda or the wider Leeward Islands.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Fay remains active in the central Atlantic, several hundred miles southwest of the Azores.
