— Chase Distributors is mourning the death of Eddy Montel, a 45-year-old employee who was found unresponsive in the company’s warehouse Wednesday after reporting that he felt unwell.

Montel had worked for the company for 18 months. His cause of death was not disclosed.

“Eddy was well loved by everyone here. He was a hard and serious worker who took pride in what he did. His passing has shocked us all,” proprietor Desmond Chase said in a statement. “Our hearts are with his family, and we will support them in whatever way we can.”

Chase visited Montel’s family Wednesday evening to offer his condolences and pledge the company’s support.

On Thursday, management and staff gathered with Montel’s immediate family at Chase Distributors for prayers and a moment of silence in his memory. The company extended its sympathies to his family, friends and colleagues and asked that the family’s privacy be respected.
