Police are investigating an overnight shooting at a home on Joseph Road in Cashew Hill after a woman inside heard several gunshots shortly after midnight Wednesday.

The gunfire was reported at about 12:26 a.m. on September 23, according to Observer Media. The woman said the shots appeared to come from the eastern front section of the residence.

Officers from the Criminal Investigations Department, Special Service Unit, Liberta Police Station and St. John’s Police Station responded. Investigators reportedly found spent shells on the ground near the eastern front of the house and inside the residence.

Police have not disclosed whether anyone was injured, what led to the gunfire or whether the home was deliberately targeted.

The incident comes two days after a shooting at a Bathlodge residence killed 20-year-old Saquania Anthony and injured 24-year-old Kelvin Samuel and 13-year-old Joshua Meade. Police have not said whether the two shootings are connected.
