A 20-year-old Cashew Hill man appeared in court without an attorney Thursday and was remanded in custody on murder and attempted murder charges stemming from a triple shooting in Bathlodge.

Jaquan Shaw appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel charged with the murder of 20-year-old Saquania Anthony and the attempted murders of 24-year-old Kelvin Samuel and 13-year-old Joshua Meade.

Shaw was unrepresented during the hearing. Given the nature of the charges, bail could not be granted by the Magistrates’ Court. He is due back in court Nov. 25.

The charges stem from a shooting at a Bathlodge residence at about 11:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21.

Police responding to reports of gunfire found Anthony unresponsive with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. She was later pronounced dead.

Samuel and Meade were also shot and taken to Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre for treatment.

Preliminary investigations indicate several people were inside the residence when intruders allegedly forced their way in and opened fire.
