The Antigua and Barbuda Amateur Volleyball Association (ABAVA) Business League 2026 continued on Thursday evening, October 8, at the YMCA Sports Complex, delivering another exciting round of competition as the University of the West Indies (UWI) and Nate Burton Photography emerged victorious in their respective encounters.
The evening featured a thrilling three-set battle between UWI and Media, followed by a commanding straight-set performance from Nate Burton Photography against Royalton Antigua.
UWI Holds Off Media in Three-Set Thriller
The opening encounter saw UWI overcome a determined Media team 2–1 in a closely contested match. UWI established an early advantage, claiming the opening set 25–22. However, Media responded with an impressive showing in the second set, matching UWI’s intensity and securing a narrow 25–23 victory to force a deciding third set.
With the match hanging in the balance, UWI regained control in the final set, demonstrating composure and determination to secure a 15–9 victory and close out the encounter. Despite the defeat, Media’s spirited performance highlighted the competitive nature of the Business League.

UWI defeated Media 2–1 (25–22, 23–25, 15–9).
Nate Burton Photography Captures Straight-Set Victory Over Royalton Antigua
In the evening’s second matchup, Nate Burton Photography delivered a convincing performance to defeat Royalton Antigua 2–0. Nate Burton Photography established control early, securing the opening set 25–16 through a strong scoring performance.
Royalton Antigua showed greater resistance in the second set, narrowing the margin and challenging their opponents. However, Nate Burton Photography maintained its advantage and completed the victory with a 25–20 result.
Final Result:
Nate Burton Photography defeated Royalton Antigua 2–0 (25–16, 25–20).
Business League Action Resumes Saturday
The ABAVA Business League 2026 continues on Saturday, October 10, with three additional matches scheduled at the YMCA Sports Complex. With the competition gathering momentum, participating teams will be looking to build on their performances as the league progresses.
Members of the public, corporate supporters and volleyball enthusiasts are encouraged to attend and support the teams. Admission is EC$5 per person.
The Business League, featuring nine participating teams, forms part of ABAVA’s ongoing efforts to promote volleyball participation, encourage corporate engagement and strengthen community connections through sport. The initiative also provides opportunities to foster teamwork, sportsmanship and healthy rivalry outside the workplace.
