Senator Kendra Beazer made a significant contribution to the debate on the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Bill, 2026, voicing his support for stronger legal protections for minors and vulnerable persons and enhanced penalties for sexual offences.

During his contribution in the Senate, Senator Beazer highlighted the importance of ensuring that legislation recognises and protects all vulnerable individuals, regardless of gender.

“Vulnerability is not gender specific. Our duty as legislators is to ensure that every vulnerable person is protected under the law, regardless of gender.”

    – Senator Kendra Beazer

Senator Beazer emphasised that effective legislation must be rooted in fairness, protection, and justice for victims, while sending a clear message that sexual offences against vulnerable persons will not be tolerated. His remarks underscored the need for a legal framework that reflects the realities faced by victims and prioritises their safety, dignity, and access to justice.

The passage of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Bill marks an important step in strengthening protections for children and vulnerable members of society, reinforcing Antigua and Barbuda’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and wellbeing of its people.
