Antigua and Barbuda will remain open for business during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, with officials ruling out a nationwide lockdown.
Foreign Affairs Minister E.P. Chet Greene told a public town hall that temporary roadblocks and movement restrictions would be needed as leaders travel between venues, but economic activity must continue.
Police said security measures would focus on official venues, designated areas and convoy routes. Access to V.C. Bird International Airport will remain available, with officers directing traffic through control points.
Greene urged residents to be patient during disruptions. Businesses outside restricted areas are expected to operate as usual, although motorists may need to take alternative routes.
