The Government of Antigua and Barbuda will officially open the National Performing Arts Centre on Friday, October 23, 2026, marking a significant addition to the country’s cultural infrastructure.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the facility, located at the corner of High and Cross streets in St. John’s.
According to an official invitation issued by the government, guests are expected to be seated by 9:30 a.m. ahead of the ceremony.
The centre is expected to provide a dedicated venue for theatrical productions, concerts, cultural presentations and other performing arts activities in Antigua and Barbuda.
The opening represents another step in efforts to strengthen the country’s cultural and creative sectors while providing a permanent space for artistic expression.
The government has invited guests to attend the ceremony, with RSVPs directed to Adiva Richards.
The facility, created through the transformation of the former Deluxe Cinema, is expected to accommodate approximately 850 people.
Earlier this month, Cabinet reported that testing of multimedia equipment had begun, while workers were undertaking deep cleaning and minor finishing works ahead of the opening.
The centre is also scheduled to host the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in November, when Antigua and Barbuda welcomes leaders and delegates from across the Commonwealth.
