The family of Damian Shadrach is appealing for financial assistance as he continues a difficult recovery after being shot in the head during an armed robbery incident in St. Maarten last month.

According to a fundraising appeal circulated by his family, Shadrach was shot in the left side of his head on July 17 while attempting to intervene during an armed robbery.

The appeal identifies Shadrach as the son of Vincent Shadrach Sr. and Wendy Ann Theophile.

Shadrach survived the shooting but suffered severe injuries that have required extensive medical treatment. His family said he has successfully undergone two major surgeries and is expected to undergo another major operation as part of his recovery.

Funds are now being sought to assist with a bone flap surgery, therapy and rehabilitation, as well as travel expenses associated with bringing Shadrach home for continued care and support.

The family said rehabilitation will be important in helping him regain strength and mobility following his surgeries.

“Every donation, no matter the amount, can make a difference,” the fundraising appeal states, adding, “Every share brings hope!”

Members of the public are also being asked to keep Shadrach in their prayers as he continues his recovery.

Donations can be made to an ACB account listed in the name of Tedra Shadrach. The family has also provided a telephone contact for people seeking additional information.

The appeal has been circulated as Shadrach faces what is expected to be a lengthy period of medical treatment and rehabilitation.

“Thank you for your love, support, and prayers,” the family said.
