    Police Seize 22 Pounds of Cannabis Worth EC$132,000 at V.C. Bird International Airport

    _POLICE SEIZE $132,000 WORTH OF CANNABIS AT V. C. BIRD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT_

    St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, Friday, 21 August 2026

    The Police and Customs Enforcement Unit have seized 22 pounds of cannabis with an estimated street value of EC$132,000 during a joint drug interdiction operation at the V. C. Bird International Airport.

    At approximately 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, 20 August, officers attached to the Police Narcotics Department, along with members of the Customs Enforcement Unit, conducted an operation at the airport’s Cargo Shed.

    During the operation, two FedEx boxes containing twenty-two (22) vacuum-sealed packages of a bushy substance resembling cannabis were discovered and seized.

    The boxes and their contents were transported to Police Headquarters, where the substance was weighed and amounted to approximately 22 pounds.

    The matter remains under investigation.
