BRIDGETOWN, Barbados — The Antigua and Barbuda Falcons have booked their place in their first Caribbean Premier League final after crushing the Guyana Amazon Warriors by nine wickets in Qualifier 1 at Kensington Oval.

The Falcons produced a dominant performance Thursday night, dismissing Guyana for just 76 before racing to 77 for one in only 5.2 overs. The victory, completed with 88 balls remaining, was the second-fastest in CPL history.

Pakistan internationals Shadab Khan and Sufyan Moqim led the destruction with the ball, taking four wickets each.

Guyana had reached 34 for one at the end of the Powerplay before its innings collapsed dramatically. Shadab delivered the decisive blow with a hat-trick, removing Shimron Hetmyer, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Quentin Sampson from consecutive deliveries.

The Warriors tumbled from 40 for two to 49 for nine before a late 27-run partnership between Romario Shepherd and Shamar Joseph helped them reach 76. Shadab finished with four for 16, while Moqim took four for 13.

Rahkeem Cornwall then ensured the Falcons wasted little time chasing the modest target.

The Antiguan opener hammered 49 from just 16 balls, hitting six sixes and three fours. He fell one run short of a half-century, but by then the Falcons were already on 71.

Evin Lewis finished unbeaten on 23 as Antigua and Barbuda completed the chase after just 32 deliveries.

The victory sends the Falcons directly into Sunday’s CPL final, where they will face the winner of Qualifier 2 between the Guyana Amazon Warriors and Jamaica Kingsmen.

The final is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 20, at Kensington Oval.
