An Antiguan woman who had been missing for over three decades was reunited with her family on Tuesday in emotional scenes at VC Bird International Airport.
Denise Odelia Charles returned to Antigua after 32 years and five months in Venezuela. She arrived shortly after 10am on a private charter arranged by the Venezuelan government.
Charles was greeted on the tarmac by Prime Minister Gaston Browne, who facilitated her return. Also aboard the flight were her brother, Terrence Charles, and nephew, Tishorn Watson.
The Prime Minister described the reunion as an incredible outcome and praised the resilience of the family. He said the case serves as a reminder for Antiguans and Barbudans to remain hopeful and positive.
Charles is expected to speak publicly in the coming weeks about the circumstances surrounding her prolonged absence.
