_Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates_ — Antigua and Barbuda has officially opened its embassy in the United Arab Emirates, in what Foreign Affairs Minister E.P. Chet Greene described as a historic step towards deeper bilateral relations, economic partnership, and cultural exchange.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Abu Dhabi, Minister Greene expressed “profound gratitude and immense pride” as he hailed the occasion as more than a diplomatic milestone.

“This landmark event is not just a formal inauguration of our diplomatic presence,” he said, “but a celebration of the enduring friendship between the two countries.”

The embassy, situated in the UAE’s capital, aims to strengthen ties between the Caribbean nation and the Gulf state by fostering cooperation in trade, tourism, investment, and innovation.

“Over the years, we have marvelled at the remarkable achievements of the UAE,” Greene told dignitaries and guests. “Your unwavering commitment to progress, sustainability and inclusivity serves as inspiration for countries like ours.”

He added that the embassy would be a “vital link” connecting not only governments but also peoples, enabling dialogue, mutual respect, and shared prosperity.

The minister highlighted the strategic significance of the UAE as a global tourism and business hub, noting that Antigua and Barbuda is eager to tap into the region’s economic opportunities.

“We look forward to collaborating with our United Arab Emirates counterparts to explore new avenues for investment and business partnerships that will pave the way for mutual prosperity,” Greene said.

With vibrant images of Antigua and Barbuda displayed in the background, he also emphasized the potential for tourism collaboration. “The UAE’s global reach in tourism provides the perfect platform to showcase our breathtaking landscapes, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality,” he noted.

Addressing the newly appointed diplomatic team, including Ambassador H. E. Walid Ali, Greene underscored their critical role beyond traditional diplomacy.

“You are the ambassadors of our image, our values, and the potential that lies within Antigua and Barbuda,” he said. “You have the extraordinary responsibility of protecting and promoting our nation’s interests in this vital region.”

Greene concluded with a call to unity and shared vision, declaring, “Today we step into the future with a reaffirmation of our commitment to partnership between our nations. Let us together forge a legacy of collaboration that resonates for generations to come.”

The opening of the embassy signals Antigua and Barbuda’s growing interest in the Middle East as a partner for economic growth, diplomacy, and global outreach.
