For the first time in history, the vital contributions of Caribbean servicemen and women to the British Armed Forces have been officially recognised in a landmark event held in London.

The commemorations included a formal military parade followed by a Service of Thanksgiving Service at the All Hallows-on-the-Wall, a historic 18th-century church still in use by members of the Armed Forces. The theme of the event was “Respect”, paying tribute to the bravery and commitment of Caribbean soldiers who served the British Armed Forces with loyalty and distinction during World War I, World War II, and across generations.

His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams, Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda and President of the West India Committee, delivered a special message on behalf of His Majesty King Charles III to the congregation:

“I send every possible good wish to those present for a memorable and enjoyable event that pays tribute to all the men and women of the Caribbean, who, over many hundreds of years, served the British Armed Forces with great loyalty and distinction.”

Sir Rodney was accompanied by Her Excellency Lady Williams, who joined him in representing Antigua and Barbuda at this historic occasion.

The service was organised by Mrs. Blondel Cluff CBE, CEO of the West India Committee, who stated that the Committee is committed to raising awareness of the significant sacrifices made by West Indians in protecting the security and prosperity of the United Kingdom. She further emphasized the importance of fostering greater respect for the Caribbean community and encouraging stronger social cohesion.

The event was attended by The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Governors General and representatives of Caribbean nations, Representatives of the UK Ministry of Defence, and Caribbean military personnel from all ranks based in London
