Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister Gaston Browne has expressed condolences to the Government and people of India following a devastating plane crash in Ahmedabad that occurred on June 12, 2025.
In a formal letter addressed to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Browne extended sympathy on behalf of the Government and people of Antigua and Barbuda, describing the loss of at least 241 lives—including five medical students—as a “most ill-fated event.”
“The loss of life, especially under circumstances like this, is always painful,” Browne wrote. “Antigua and Barbuda prays and stands in solidarity for the persons still unaccounted for and hope for their rescue and survival.”
He added that the Caribbean nation shares in the grief of those affected, sending “heartfelt sympathies, thoughts and prayers” to the victims’ families and all impacted by the tragedy.
Authorities in India are continuing recovery and investigation efforts following the crash, which left many others injured.
