The Government of Antigua and Barbuda officially opened Tranquility Park Cemetery on Thursday, marking what officials describe as a significant step in national development.

The new cemetery is intended to offer a dignified and sustainable final resting place for citizens, and stands as one of the most prominent projects aimed at addressing long-term burial needs on the island.

At the dedication ceremony, government officials underscored the importance of inter-ministerial collaboration in bringing the project to fruition. The cemetery, they said, represents a commitment to preserving the dignity of the deceased while offering comfort to families during times of loss.

A government statement described Tranquility Park as a symbol of “thoughtful governance” and “a lasting commitment to honouring the lives of our fallen loved ones.”

Further details on the cemetery’s capacity, design features, and operational guidelines are expected to be shared in the coming weeks.
