Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Wellness, Environment, and Civil Service Affairs, Mr. Colin Okeiffe, continues his ongoing series of visits to departments and facilities under his portfolio.

As part of these efforts, the Permanent Secretary recently toured the national landfill, where he engaged with staff and stakeholders to assess current operations and conditions on the ground. The visit forms part of a broader strategy to evaluate infrastructure and explore opportunities for modernising waste management systems across the country.

The Ministry is currently examining how best to improve environmental and operational standards at the landfill through the introduction of updated technology, improved processes, and sustainable practices. These improvements are aimed at enhancing both environmental protection and the well-being of workers and surrounding communities.

Mr. Okeiffe reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to modernising public health infrastructure, and underscored the importance of collaborative planning in addressing long-standing environmental challenges.
