The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the drowning of a Chinese national that occurred at Pelican Beach in Johnson’s Point.
Approximately 5:10 pm on Sunday, July 27, police officers attached to the Johnson’s Point Police Station responded to a report and found the lifeless body of a 47-year-old Chinese national, residing at Lower All Saints Road, lying on the sand on his back. He was dressed in burgundy shorts and a white shirt.
Reports indicate that the deceased was at the beach with friends when he went snorkeling. Shortly after, he encountered difficulty, and signaled for help, prompting his companions to pull him from the water. CPR was administered by Emergency Medical Personnel; however, he remained unresponsive.
The District Medical Doctor arrived at the scene and pronounced him dead at 6:13 p.m.
The Police Administration extends sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and are continuing inquiries into the incident.
