A new partnership between the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) and Caribbean Developments Antigua Ltd (CDAL) will bring high-speed fibre-optic internet to Jolly Harbour.

Under a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding, APUA’s telecoms arm, inet, will design, install and maintain the network. The rollout is expected to begin shortly and be completed within two months, connecting over 800 properties.

APUA said customers will be linked directly or through multi-dwelling systems, depending on the layout.

The deal, which took effect on 1 August, runs for an initial 10 years with annual renewals. Full technical support and maintenance will be provided.

“This partnership is a major step in delivering world-class service across Antigua and Barbuda,” said Vaughn Brown, manager of APUA’s Telecommunications Business Unit.

CDAL, which manages Jolly Harbour, described the move as a vital upgrade to support remote work, streaming, and other digital needs.

The project forms part of APUA’s broader effort to expand digital access nationwide.
