Police are investigating the theft of a teacher’s purse containing thousands of dollars and government-issued documents from the Mary E. Pigott Primary School last week.
The incident reportedly occurred around 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2025. According to police, the teacher said she left her handbag in the school’s Literacy Room while attending a parent-teacher meeting in the yard.
When she returned, she discovered the purse missing. It reportedly contained $7,000 in cash, several Treasury cheques, government identification cards, and other personal items.
A 12-year-old student who was in the room at the time told police that a man wearing a blue surgical mask entered and approached the teacher’s bag before leaving.
Officers conducted interviews and searched the area, but the stolen items have not been recovered. The investigation is ongoing.
