Authorities in Antigua and Barbuda are stepping up security for the National Youth Rally at Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
Co-chair of the organising committee, Betty-Ann Bloodman, urged parents to check on their children before the event and support the no-violence campaign. “We want to ensure a safe rally, and the police will be present in full numbers,” she said.
Hundreds of primary and secondary school students are expected to attend, taking part in march-pasts and saluting peers recognised for achievements in academics, sports and the arts. The event begins at 8:30am.
